FAR CRY – Series Intro
\n\u2013 Video Game Tourist<\/h2>\n

This is part of my \u201cVideo Game Tourist\u201d series \u2013 where I provide an intro to a video game or series and then play the first level or two \u2013 or the 2nd or 3rd part of a series \u2013 or whatever \u2013 and we\u2019ll see if we want to continue streaming the game or the series.<\/span><\/p>\n

The idea here is that \u2013 as a tourist \u2013 we are arriving on an airplane & flying over @ 10K feet to get the BIG PICTURE overview.<\/p>\n

FAR CRY was the first in a series of games<\/a> that will become some of the most enjoyable open world FPS (first person shooter) games in video game history (according to me).<\/p>\n

FAR CRY (2004) was NOT really an open world game, but most levels were designed so that you can approach them from any angle & in any way you wanted!\u00a0 You could boldly attack or sneak in on the right, left or center using a run & gun style vs silent sniper style or just drive into a fortress via jeep, truck, hum-vee, boats, hang gliders, etc.<\/p>\n

There were SO many ways to skin the cat.\u00a0\u00a0You had your choice of how to attack almost every mission, but this first game in the series was not truly open world… but it was the beginning of “multiple-choice gaming”<\/em><\/strong> & is still one of my all time favorites!<\/p>\n

When Far Cry 2 (2008) was released, I bought it the minute it was released. Sadly – it was an abysmal departure from FC 1, so I wrote off the entire FC series for years, totally ignoring FC 3 (2012) & FC 4 (2014).<\/p>\n

BUT WAIT, THERE’s MORE!!!<\/p>\n

When FC PRIMAL (2016) came out, I could not resist this weird prehistoric world & jumped right in to FC Primal. The game was awesome to me – but hated by\u00a0 FC fans who had recently played FC 3 & FC 4.<\/p>\n

And here is where things get weird… and history was made.<\/p>\n

The FC series game numbers and “worlds” don’t actually have anything in common from one game to the next… but they all have one magic ingredient – that is – allowing you to do what you want – however you choose to do it – as long as you accomplish the mission.<\/p>\n

In all of the games, you are only given a tiny bit of background story about your specific character & then you are dropped into the bizarre worlds of Far Cry 1,2,3,4,5 + a few odd-ball departures like FC Blood Dragon, FC Primal & FC New Dawn with minimal resources & you have to fend for yourself.<\/p>\n

The original Fry Cry for PC is where the kind of gaming we all enjoy today began &\u00a0IMO (in my opinion), the Far Cry video game series is a “historic” collection (except FC2, F*that game) and every gamer should own them & play them at least once – especially the original Far Cry PC video game.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
